Stomp Science

Wine Stomps have been performed for many hundreds of years. During this time there has been SPECULATION that those most likely to win a Stomp have the LARGEST FEET!

This allowed the Organizers of the Stomp, Chris and Linnea Covington, Frank Craven, Joe Marine and Sanford Wright, to take ownership of a FIRST!  Through the creation of “STOMP SCIENCE”, our group scrutinized this old tale in the 2019 STOMP and this year’s 2021 STOMP to see if this old Fairy Tale was TRUE or FALSE.  Are the Stompers with the LARGEST FEET ALWAYS THE WINNERS?

As many of you already know, our Organizers hired Stomp Scientist, Mary Jo Sarver ARNP, to join the Stomp Staff in 2019. We were honored that she was able to rejoin us again this year, 2021.

The essential SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH TOOL needed for this Science was provided for us by Althea Schlumpf, owner of Althea’s Foot Wear Solutions on Broadway, in 2019. This Scientific Tool, THE BRANNOCK DEVICE, has allowed Mary Jo measure the right foot of all Stompers both in 2019 and again this year, 2021.

In the 2019 STOMP, Mary Jo identified very large, well endowed feet that were “owned” by Jon Stucky and his partner at Everett Engineering. Yet despite their oversized paws, they were NOT the Winners of the 2019 STOMP. Thus, in that STOMP of 2019, Mary Jo verified from a Scientific standpoint, that THE LARGEST FEET DID NOT WIN!

This year, 2021, Mary Jo again established this same Scientific principal from the opposite perspective. She demonstrated that this year’s winners, Monica McManus and Kate Sitka, had NEARLY THE SMALLEST FEET – or PAWS – AMONGST ALL COMPETITORS!

HOWEVER, once again, in 2021, ALL THE STOMPERS, STAFF and SUPPORTERS AGAIN AGREED THAT EVERYONE SUPPORTING MAKE-A-WISH IS A WINNER!”
